ChinaSource was barely ten years old when I attended a gathering of leaders from mainland, diaspora, and international churches in Asia, convened by founder Dr. Brent Fulton and several co-laborers with ChinaSource. We had finished the second day of meetings and workshops, and I asked Brent why, as the convener, he had not spoken, lectured, or taught even once. He replied simply, “Because this is their time.” I immediately understood what he meant.
The simple yet profound wisdom of the ChinaSource mission has always been to feature the voice of the Chinese church, while expanding the platform for the global body of Christ to hear from, learn from, and partner with the church in China and the diaspora. For twenty-eight years, the Lord of the Nations has multiplied the ministry of ChinaSource because, from its beginnings, Brent has exemplified partnering together in love, humility, and deep respect for our Chinese brothers and sisters, in accordance with God’s will, and as his ambassadors of reconciliation. ChinaSource team and board members hold to these same convictions, and the Lord is now opening doors that we never imagined would be opened.
Nurturing Deep Roots for a Flourishing Global Chinese Church
In an era of accelerating change, ChinaSource continues its twenty-eight-year legacy as the vital connection point between China’s believers and the worldwide Christian community. Our current focus addresses the pressing need for spiritual resilience within the Chinese churches—both within China and throughout the diaspora. The global church looks to ChinaSource to bring understanding to contemporary challenges beyond a single or dominant narrative.
Year-End Goal
We aim to raise $150,000 for the “Cultivating Resilient Faith” campaign by December 31 to strengthen initiatives that provide transformational discipleship resources, facilitate wisdom-sharing among believers facing similar challenges, and create spaces for authentic kingdom community in Christ across geographic boundaries. Your partnership empowers us to help Chinese Christians develop deep spiritual roots that sustain vibrant faith, regardless of external pressures or changing environments.Your support will also enable ChinaSource to help the global church learn vital life lessons in Christ from our Chinese brothers and sisters, in this era of uncertainty, as well as to partner with the global church.
Strategic initiatives the “Cultivating Resilient Faith” campaign include are:
1. Sharing Biblical Perspectives by creating accessible materials which address contemporary challenges from a biblical foundation. These will come especially by way of the redesign and organization of the ChinaSource website.
2. Strengthening Chinese Christian Voices: Building networks linking believers with supportive faith communities through sustained involvement in new conferences and gatherings that encourage mutual learning and collaboration.
3. Equipping and Strengthening Ministry Leaders: Capturing and sharing stories of resilient faith, across generations, that encourage believers worldwide through Chinese church voices and our commitment to widening the base of Chinese content providers on the ChinaSource website.
4. Fostering Intergenerational Dialogue and Partnership by creating platforms where seasoned believers and younger generations can share experiences and learn from one another, cultivating mutual encouragement and discipleship.
Why Does This Matter?
This matters because resilient faith is essential for the long-term flourishing of Chinese Christianity in an unprecedented season of transition. Today’s Chinese Christ-followers—both in China and throughout the rapidly growing diaspora—face unique and intensifying pressures that challenge the transmission of faith in Christ to younger generations.
Church leaders across cultural and ministry contexts recognize that Chinese Christianity is transitioning from rapid expansion to a season requiring deeper spiritual rootedness and formation. Without intentional cultivation of biblical foundations, cross-generational connection, and supportive communities, many believers may struggle to maintain meaningful faith commitments amid shifting circumstances.
