Dr. Ximian Simeon Xu, originally from Wenzhou, China, is a Senior Research Associate in the Faculty of Divinity at the University of Cambridge, where he also serves as the Director of the Cambridge Centre for Chinese Theology. He is the author of two monographs: The Digitalised Image of God: Artificial Intelligence, Liturgy, and Ethics (Routledge, 2024) and Theology as the Science of God (V&R, 2022). Currently, he is writing the book The Imago Dei: A Holistic Interpretation, under contract with Cambridge University Press. He is also co-editing the T&T Clark Handbook of Artificial Intelligence, Religion, and Ethics with Professor George Coghill for Bloomsbury T&T Clark. In addition to these book projects, he has published numerous articles in leading academic journals.
How may the perverted order of humanity mirrored in AI be rectified and restored? It is at this point that we are motivated to explore how God’s grace can enable us to perform the image of God with our ectype, that is, AI.
