Arise Asia: Inspiring the Next Generation

•

In the last week of July, I had the opportunity to attend the Arise Asia conference in Bangkok, Thailand. Part of the Lausanne Movement and co-sponsored by a number of organizations including OMF, Radius Asia, and Wheaton College (to name a few), Arise Asia brought together 1,700 young people from 35 Asian countries to be challenged to “go where this is no gospel.”

The mission statement is very simple: “To inspire the next generation to take the gospel throughout Asia and to the world.” A fuller description is here:

It is almost two millennia since Jesus called his first disciples to follow him. Since that time, many followers of Jesus have taken up the call to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Now, in the 21st century, the need for the gospel to be shared and lived out in Asia is tremendous, and God is setting the hearts of people in Asia on fire for his glory and purpose. The time has come for Asia to arise and participate in God’s great commission.

It was a privilege being there, worshipping with people from all over Asia, being encouraged by stories of what God is doing in Asia, and listening to speakers challenge the young people of Asia to commit their lives to missions. Find a video summary of the conference on our YouTube channel or click the image below.

The conference opened with a video, titled “Why Arise Asia Today?” which presents the history of missions to Asia and the challenge for Asians to take up the call to inspire the next generation to take the gospel throughout Asia and to the world. Please join us in praying for this burgeoning missions movement from Asia and for the many conference participants who made commitments to give their lives for the kingdom.
