Jon Kuert 於 2001 年首次前往中國，之後擔任 AFC Global 主任長達 7 年，負責組織並差派學生及志工團隊前往中國和亞洲其他地區服事。此後，他與妻子 Elissa 移居中國雲南省，在當地生活了 7 年。
在中國期間，Jon Kuert 除了教授英語，也帶領大學生參加結合語言學習與領導力培養的健行活動。他與妻子還共同推動一項小型商業計畫，幫助生活面臨困難的中國農村婦女。
Jon Kuert 目前定居美國明尼蘇達州，是 Nihao MN 的創辦人兼主任。這個服務中國留學生的組織，透過戶外活動與聚餐交流，豐富他們在美國的留學生活。
